Terms and Conditions for Stays at The Vean

Reservation

Once we receive a Booking Form by post or email or make an informal reservation as a result of a telephone enquiry we will hold your provisional reservation for 14 days prior to receipt of a deposit.

Deposit

A deposit against the full tariff payable will be required to confirm the booking. The exact amount of the deposit required will be determined by The Vean Manager depending on the nature and duration of the proposed booking but will not be less than 25% of the full tariff. Deposits are non-refundable.

Payment

Full payment for the booking will normally be required 6 weeks before the start date of the booking. If the booking is made less than 6 weeks before the start date full payment will be required on booking. Payment may be made by cheque, credit card, bank transfer or cash.

Cancellation

If cancellation is made more than 6 weeks in advance only the deposit would be forfeited. If cancellation is made less than 6 weeks from the start date of the booking the whole tariff would be payable unless the property can be relet. The Vean Manager will make every effort to relet the property but this cannot be guaranteed.

Arrival and Departure

Unless prior arrangements are made with The Vean Manager, arrivals would not normally be before 4.00 p.m. on the start date and departures would to requested by 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

Client Obligations

The client who books The Vean undertakes:-

i)    To pay for any losses or damages to The Vean property during their stay.

ii)    To take good care of The Vean property and leave it in a clean and tidy condition on departure.

iii)   To occupy The Vean only with those members of the party listed on the Booking Form and not with other third parties.

iv)   That no more than 16 people will stay at The Vean at any one time.

v)    To settle any accounts for extra services or facilities (e.g. chefs, wine, masseuse etc) arranged through The Vean Manager prior to departure. (See also Terms and Conditions for Holiday Extras.)

vi)   To settle any accounts for telephone or internet access at The Vean as an extra prior to departure.

Children

Although our policy is to be flexible and respond positively to individual requests The Vean is furnished to a standard where it is not really suitable or equipped for large numbers of unsupervised children under the age of about 12.The Vean is however equipped for babies and would expect to accommodate children for weddings, family reunions, anniversaries and other special events. Please outline your plans with The Vean Manager when discussing your booking.

Licensed Premises

The Vean is a Licensed premises. Licensing Laws apply. All drink consumed at The Vean must be bought from The Vean. By prior arrangement wines can be brought into the house and a corkage fee will apply. This drink must be handed to the staff on arrival. Please contact the Manager, Sally Gammell, if you need further clarification.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in The Vean premises in accordance with the law. Ashtrays are however provided under the outside verandah for those wishing to smoke outside.

Pets

Pets are not permitted anywhere inside The Vean house. However, if you have any particular requirements, please do contact The Vean Manager to discuss them as rules can, on occasion, be broken. Fully heated outdoor kennels are located immediately outside the back door of The Vean.

Liability

The Vean cannot accept liability for any accident, loss, damage, costs, injury, expense or any other inconvenience or claim for compensation whether to person or property incurred while staying at The Vean.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits the liability of The Vean for death or personal injury caused by The Vean’s negligence or under the relevant section of the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

Complaints

If a problem or cause for complaint should arise please contact The Vean Manager immediately so that the problem can be dealt with and put right at the time.
